Department Overview

The function is responsible for the receipt, custody, and disbursement of public monies as may be required by circumstances of public financial business. Ensures proper accounting of Government income and expenditure through effective use of systems in undertaking all Government transactions including the generation of financial reports for the Treasury Accounts. The office is responsible for the financial compliance and operation of the financial management systems in implementing and actualizing the FGS budget.
The specific duties and responsibilities of the Director of Treasury shall include;

  • Manage the payment cycle and safeguard the financial records including checking and validation of the federal government payments.
  • Supervise the timely and accurate collections of all revenue and inflows of the Government, their safe custody, and subsequent deposits into the TSA and proper accounting for all transactions including the preparation of the Treasury Accounts;
  • Manage and control all expenditures, outflows, and disbursement of public money in a timely and accurate manner and as required by the PFM Law, Regulations, COPM, POM, and any other instructions that may be issued from time to time;
  • Overseeing the payroll of government employees including reconciling all payroll activities;
  • Facilitate proper safekeeping of accounting records and supporting documents;
  • Maintain the TSA bank accounts and ensure efficient reconciliation of all accounts leaving no item outstanding
  • Maintain the Treasury General Ledger and compile the Treasury Accounts
