Mr. Mohamed Mohamud Abdulle

Mr. Mohamed Mohamud Abdulle is a seasoned financial leader and public administrator with over three decades of progressive experience in fiscal management, public finance reform, and institutional development. His distinguished career spans both the public and private sectors, reflecting an unwavering commitment to financial accountability, transparency, and good governance within Somalia and abroad.
Currently serving as the Accountant General of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdulle brings extensive expertise in financial reporting, fiscal policy, and regulatory frameworks that support Somalia’s ongoing public financial management (PFM) transformation. His leadership emphasizes strengthening institutional capacity, enhancing financial integrity, and ensuring alignment with international standards of transparency and accountability.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Abdulle held several senior positions within the Somali government, including Senior Advisor to the Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education, Minister of Finance and Economic Development of Hirshabelle State, and Minister of Education and Higher Education of Hirshabelle State. He also served as Senior Advisor on Fiscal Federalism to the President of Hirshabelle, contributing significantly to intergovernmental fiscal coordination and financial decentralization efforts.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Abdulle played a key role in shaping Somalia’s financial architecture through his tenure as Deputy Director of the Financial Reporting Center (FRC) at the Federal Government of Somalia. In this capacity, he oversaw financial intelligence operations and compliance mechanisms to strengthen anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CFT) systems nationwide.
Beyond the public sector, Mr. Abdulle’s rich experience extends to the international banking and financial consultancy fields. He served as Managing Director of Dayax Islamic Bank, Head of Strategic Partnership with Bank Islam Malaysia, and Banking Advisor at ELIT Consultancy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he contributed to risk management frameworks and Islamic financial product development. His consultancy engagements involved collaborations with major global institutions including HSBC, CIMB, AMBANK, and Standard Chartered Bank, focusing on Islamic banking, risk management, and financial innovation.
Mr. Abdulle’s global experience is further highlighted by his service in leadership roles in Canada, Malaysia, and the Gulf region, encompassing positions such as Vice President of the Spanish Cooperative Housing Association in Toronto, Director of Accounting at Symmetric Link Construction in Kuala Lumpur, and General Manager of Samrin Trading Company in Sharjah, UAE. Through these roles, he honed his expertise in corporate governance, auditing, and strategic financial planning.
An advocate of continuous professional development, Mr. Abdulle has participated in numerous international seminars and certification programs, including Islamic Structured Investment Risk Analysis, Certified Risk and Wealth Management (CRWMC – Malaysia), Accounting Financial Auditor (AAOIFI – Bahrain), and AML/Counter-Terrorism Financing (ELIT Consulting – Malaysia). His thought leadership in financial sector reform has been showcased through international speaking engagements in Malaysia, Brunei, Germany, and Seychelles.
Mr. Abdulle holds a Postgraduate Diploma in International Trade and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Accounting) from Niagara College–Brock University in Canada. He also earned a Laurea in Economics from the Somali National University, Mogadishu.
Fluent in English, Arabic, and Italian, Mr. Abdulle combines global financial acumen with deep national insight, driving Somalia’s fiscal systems toward greater stability, modernization, and public trust. His visionary leadership continues to underpin the Accountant General’s Office in its mission to promote financial transparency, enhance budget execution, and ensure effective management of public resources across the Federal Government of Somalia.
